Paul Nemeth was a member of Grantville's Pentecostal Church. After the Ring of Fire, Nemeth approved of his eldest son Terrell's decision to enlist in the army. Nemeth and his wife Ingrid were present in Reverend John Chalker's congregation during Dieter Fischer's introduction to their faith.
One night, Nemeth after a strange dream: he saw his own funeral, attended by his wife, Reverend Chalker, and Fischer (who wore black, white, and gray, respectively). In his dream, he saw flames flickering behind Fischer's head. Nemeth was unsure of what this dream meant. His wife suggested it might be a prophecy, and that Fischer would be fit to succeed Reverend Chalker. Ingrid was concerned about the dream including Paul's funeral, particularly since Paul had been coughing unnaturally as of late, and suggested he see a doctor. Paul agreed, and was diagnosed with cancer.
In September 1632, Paul and the other Pentecostals learned (and believed) Fischer's claim to be driven by the Holy Ghost. Paul shared his dream with the Church Elders and his belief that his dream meant that Fischer was protected by the Holy Ghost and destined to become a powerful force the church. Paul's revelation was met with surprise from his fellows, who nonetheless elected Fischer as the very first minister of the Pentecostal Church in the new universe and as well as Chief Minister of Down-timer Outreach.
Paul finally succumbed to his cancer and died in October 1632. He had the unfortunate honor of being the first buried in the new Pentecostal churchyard behind the little Church in the Hollow.
