Michel Ducos was a French Huguenot who was ostensibly an agent of Claude de Mesmes, comte d'Avaux. In reality, Ducos was a Huguenot fanatic who was fervently determined to weaken Cardinal Richelieu, and possibly cause his overthrow. Thanks to a series of circumstances, Ducos became an enemy of the time-displaced community of Grantville.
1634: The Galileo Affair
Edit
Ducos passed himself off as a member of the Paris Committee of Correspondence and infiltrated the Venetian Committee of Correspondence. While purporting to support the Venetian Committee's attempt to rescue Galileo, he actually used it as cover for an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate Pope Urban VIII.
