John Floyd (1769–1839) was a politician and soldier from Georgia.

Floyd served in the Creek War as a brigadier general in the First Brigade of Georgia Militia from August 30, 1813 to March 8, 1814 and from October 17, 1814 to March 10, 1815. During the Battle of Calibee Creek in January, 1814 Floyd was able to fend off a Red Stick attack, but considered the battle a defeat.

John Floyd in Trail of GloryEdit

News of John Floyd's retreat had reached Andrew Jackson at Fort Strother in February, 1814. As far as Jackson was concerned, this retreat was just more evidence of Georgia's worthlessness during the Creek War.
