Gertrude (b. 1616) was a younger sister of Mathilde. She'd turned fifteen just prior to the Battle of Jena. Under normal circumstances, she'd have followed her sister in to prostitution. However, Gretchen Richter presented another alternative in the form of literacy and the Committees of Correspondence.
