Brillo was the name given to a particularly stubborn and troublesome ram owned by Flo Richards of Grantville, presumably because his wool was coarse and rough enough to remind her of steel wool pads. He was often able to escape from his pen, and interfere with Richards' merino breeding program.

Fictionalized, and often totally fictional, accounts of his "exploits" were widely circulated, and his image was frequently used in cartoons. For a time, he was something of a folk figure.

Brillo was the symbolic ram of the Franconian Ram Movement.
