1634: The Galileo Affair (Baen, 2004) is the fourth book in the 1632 series, written by Eric Flint and Andrew Dennis. It spins off a new thread in the series set in Italy, and follows the activities of an embassy party sent from the United States of Europe (Grantville) to Venice, where the three young Stone brothers become involved with the local Committees of Correspondence and the Inquisition's trial of Galileo Galilei. Concurrently, Pope Urban VIII is trying to determine just what the Church should do about this new community from the future, a vindictive Huguenot plots revenge, and Sharon Nichols tries to restart her life after the death of her fiance, Hans Richter.
