1634: The Baltic War (Baen, 2007), by by David Weber and Eric Flint, is the direct sequel to 1633, and the seventh published volume in the 1632 series. It continues the 'Main' or 'Central European thread' centered on the newly organized United States of Europe birthed in Central Germany under the protection of Emperor Gustavus Adolphus and in particular, the role of the citizens of Grantville, now officially part of Thuringia, have to play on the world stage. With the stability imposed by the protection of Gustavus's armies, up-timers began migrating to other locales.

The novel resolves the dangling plot-line of the USE embassy imprisoned in the Tower of London. The novel also also gives Admiral John Chandler Simpson's Navy a chance to shine against the League of Ostend, sees France successfully copy some of Grantville's 20th century firearms, and the emergence of the new Union of Kalmar.
